The Provincial Government of West Sulawesi held a regional consultation on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) for the Kasulampua region for 2024. This event took place on May 15-16, 2024, in Mamuju, bringing together various stakeholders including local government officials, academics, and business actors from the Kasulampua region.
All Heads of BPS (Statistics Indonesia) from the regencies and cities across West Sulawesi also attended the event, including the Head of BPS Pasangkayu Regency, who represented Pasangkayu Regency in this grand event. The consultation aims to formulate appropriate economic strategies and policies to enhance economic growth and the welfare of the people in the Kasulampua region, which encompasses the regencies in West Sulawesi. In his remarks, the Acting Governor of West Sulawesi emphasized the importance of synergy among various parties to achieve the set GRDP growth targets.
During the discussions, several key issues were addressed, including the development of the tourism sector, infrastructure improvement, and the strengthening of the agriculture and fisheries sectors, which are the mainstays of the region. Participants also highlighted various challenges faced, such as limited transportation access and the need to improve human resource quality. The results of this consultation are expected to serve as a foundation for more effective and efficient regional development planning, while also boosting the economic competitiveness of West Sulawesi at the national level, including in Pasangkayu Regency.
