BPS has been carrying out the Agricultural Census since 1963. The variables needed to complete agricultural data have developed very dynamically from time to time. Therefore, the Agricultural Census must be able to answer data needs at the national and global levels.
The Agricultural Census that will be held in 2023 (ST2023) is the seventh agricultural census. It has the theme "Recording Indonesian Agriculture for Food Sovereignty and Farmer Welfare". The Agricultural Census must be able to answer data needs at the national and global levels. The 2023 Agricultural Census is designed so that the results obtained are of international standard by referring to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) program known as the WCA (World Program for the Census of Agriculture).
In order to improve coordination between OPDs for the successful and smooth implementation of the 2023 Agricultural Census and the realization of collaboration from all OPDs related to the agricultural sector, the BPS of West Sulawesi Province held a Regional Coordination Meeting for the 2023 Agricultural Census on December 1, 2022 at the Grand Maleo Hotel and Convention Ballroom, Mamuju. The Regional Secretary of West Sulawesi Province expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this activity. He said that this Rakorda was very important in supporting preparations for the implementation of the 2023 Agricultural Census which would later be carried out by the Central Bureau of Statistics. So, when implementing next year, BPS already has a mature implementation plan along with risk mitigation from the 2023 Agricultural Census activities.
All the OPD Pasangkayu related to agriculture also provided their support for the implementation of the Rakorda. The Head of the Agriculture Office and the Head of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service for the Pasangkayu Regency, namely Mr. Nurdin and Mrs. Kartini, attended the Rakorda in person. Also present was Pak Naharuddin from the Animal Husbandry and Plantation Service of the Pasangkayu Regency. They stated that they were ready to collaborate in recording Indonesian agriculture for food sovereignty and farmer welfare.
Head of BPS Province of West Sulawesi, Ms. Tina Wahyufitri in her remarks said that BPS really hopes for support from various parties, especially in carrying out ST2023 Socialization in activities at Ministries/Institutions/Departments/Institutions by displaying the ST2023 logo in a visual display at every activity in Ministries/Institutions/ Services/Agencies as well as campaigning for the 2023 Agricultural Census to the surrounding community.
